The State Board of Education will use its constitutional authority to lead and uphold the system of public education in North Carolina. Individuals will pursue postsecondary education in order to drive economic success. During this time, the Board listens to comments from the public but does not engage in dialogue or render decisions. Its members review significant curriculum changes, new textbook adoptions, and student achievement, and acts as liaison with community organizations involved with educational concerns and issues.
The Board met with peers from the Workforce Training and Education Coordination Board to discuss developing standards for career readiness in Washington, and adopted a joint resolution calling for action. Ø Give magisterial powers (including right to arrest) to examination board officials.
