Teaching kids how to be healthy and practice good hygiene is only part of what a health education major covers. Para-professionals and health professionals from other disciplines are not familiar with the specialized body of health education knowledge, skills, theories, and research, nor is it their primary interest or professional development focus. These students support the implementation of new health and wellness initiatives within the colleges while bringing comprehensive and diverse programs, games and events to Calumet and Stong Colleges.
Interpersonal Communication- Demonstrate the ability to use interpersonal-communication skills to enhance health and avoid or reduce health risks. This course provides a conceptual grounding in theoretical approaches to health behavior, emphasizing the use of psychosocial theories and models of health behavior for effective health education and public health practice and research.
