If you would like to provide in-person public comment (limited to three minutes per person) regarding the new CTE Course Equivalencies, you can do so on May 10th or May 11th from 11:45am-12:00pm during the Public Comment section of the State Board meeting. In addition to setting policy, the Board hires the superintendent; approves staff hirings, transfers, resignations, terminations, and leaves of absence; approves expenditures; approves educational programs (curriculum); and otherwise ensures that the facilities and equipment are available to support learning and teaching in the District.
Board members may also be reimbursed for expenses incurred for approved Board related activities. Since the state has assumed a large portion of the fiscal responsibility for new school construction, the capital requests must be submitted to the State Interagency Committee and must be approved by the State Board of Public Works.
The following Board of Education meetings are work sessions and held at 5:30 PM, unless otherwise noted, in the North Ridgeville Education Center, Conference Room. The Board of Trustees is accountable to the Province of Ontario for the proper conduct of their duties and powers, including the implementation of provincial policy and the use of provincially allocated funds.
The State Board conducts public meetings in Trenton on the first Wednesday of each month. These goals and the policies to implement them include equality of educational opportunity and quality instruction. All Board of Education meetings and all Board committee meetings are open to the public.
Advocating on major educational issues to the executive and legislative branches. The Board will develop rules for practitioner licensure that maintain high standards, are research based, and provide flexibility in attainment in all credential types, especially in shortage areas.
